Preventing infection and protecting antimicrobials

Introduction

NHS Education for Scotland (NES), in close collaboration with the Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group (SAPG) and Glasgow Caledonian University have created the framework “Containing and controlling antimicrobial resistance: A knowledge and skills framework for health and social care in Scotland” to support the education of health and social care staff and students in Scotland. 

This multidisciplinary framework was influenced by and supports the following:

The Infection Prevention Workforce: Strategic Plan 2022 – 2024
Scottish Healthcare Associated Infection (HCAI) Strategy 2023 – 2025
UK 5-year action plan for antimicrobial resistance 2024 to 2029
