Care assistant in a care home
Care assistant

Nadiya is a care assistant and looks after residents in a large care home for older people.

Nadiya recognises that the people she cares for may need to be treated for an infection at some point. She has heard about antimicrobial resistance in a training session she attended with colleagues and highlights to her manager that she does not feel confident around what AMR means for her and the people she cares for.

Her manager recognises that Nadiya needs support to gain a better understanding, and they explore how Nadiya could contribute to reducing AMR in her job role. She identifies some learning activities Nadiya could undertake to help her gain foundational knowledge and skills.
